Internship

Internship Regulations

1. The Internship lasts two months (July 1st to August 31st), between the 4th and 5th year of studies, takes place in places outside IHU., is mandatory for all students and takes place in accordance with the provisions of Article 25 of Law 1474 (Government Gazette 128/7-9-1984, vol. A') and the decisions of the department of ABO.

2. The Internship (Practice Training, PT) of ABO Students is implemented within the framework of the Operational Program "Education and Lifelong Learning" (ESPA 2014-2020) and is institutionalized in the Department where the following apply:

  • It is recognized as an approved student activity linked to the Study Program,
  • It is mandatory for obtaining the degree and is listed in the Diploma Supplement.
  • Its duration is two months and it takes place during the summer months (July and August). Students are required to carry out the PT in institutions, both in the public and private sector,
  • It is supervised by the Faculty members (Supervisors) of the Department, who are appointed by the Supervising faculty member (SFM) and approved by the Assembly of the Department, for each academic year,
  • Supervisors are in charge of monitoring and guiding student interns throughout the PT, as well as evaluating the student and the institution.

The Internship Program of ABO aims at the internship of all its students in companies and organizations of the private or public sector in order to:

  • apply the knowledge they have acquired through their studies and develop the skills they will be asked to demonstrate in their first work environment,
  • to create a communication channel between ABO and businesses, in order to facilitate their cooperation.

3. Students must follow the announcements related to the PT and posted on the Department's website as well as the posted files related to the Internship and found in a special place on the Department's website. Status of the students who have acquired the right to carry out the Internship in accordance with the above conditions, as well as the schedule of actions on behalf of the students will be announced at the beginning of March. The final dates of actions must be strictly observed as otherwise the student loses the right to carry out the Internship. Students who have been selected to participate in an ERASMUS Internship program during the spring semester preceding the summer that they intend to carry out their Internship must be informed of the necessary actions by the Supervisor/Coordinator.

4. The Internship Implementation Manager undertakes the obligation to inform the Department Secretariat of the successful completion of the Internship and the crediting of the ECTS corresponding to the Internship according to the Study Program to the student's record. Necessary conditions for the successful evaluation of the Internship are the following: A. Weekly e-mail sent to the Supervising faculty member) in which the daily activities of the past week of the intern during the period are described in detail with scientific documentation of the Exercise. B. Compilation and submission to the Internship Secretariat of the ABO Department "Report of PA activities", which must not have been evaluated by the supervising faculty member as incomplete. C. Sending the Report electronically by e-mail to the supervising faculty member and D. Signed confirmation of the host institution for successful completion of the Internship.

5. The selection of the Host Organization (HO) for the realization of the Internship is the sole responsibility of the student.

6. The agreement between the selected supervising faculty member (SFM) and the intern student is validated by the signing of the Cooperation Protocol which is signed in the first phase by the person in charge of the HO. and in a second phase by the Internship Manager/Coordinator of the ABO Department.

7. The presence of the students is mandatory on all working days (five days) (including Saturday if this has been agreed between the student and the HO when signing the collaboration protocol) throughout the 8-hour day of HO and no absences are allowed unless these are due to health reasons that must be documented with relevant documents.

8. It is forbidden during the Internship to prepare part or all of the student's Bachelor's Thesis in the HO.

9. The HO at the end of the Internship, must certify by signature the successful completion of the Internship.

10. The following should be taken into account for the selection by the students of the Host Agency where they will practice:

I. It is suggested that the Host should preferably belong to the Private Sector.

II. Up to three (5) students are allowed in each Host Organization for the same period of time and the same object of employment/Internship.

III. It is not allowed to be selected as HO higher or higher education institution.

IV. It should, based on the activities of HO and the details of the Host Organization to document the relevance of the with the field of agricultural biotechnology or oenology.

11. The general behavior during the Internship on the part of the interns must correspond to their academic capacity, be lawful and the interns must faithfully follow the security and confidentiality regulations during the performance of their duties as well as any other work regulation or regulation in force in his Host Body.

12. The person responsible for the implementation/support of the PT reserves the right to delete the student who fails to fulfill his/her duties and obligations, such as, for example, not following the schedule of actions, not filing a report which is evaluated as incomplete), the unjustified absence from his place of practice, the failure to send e-mails on the indicated dates, illegal behavior, etc. In case of cancellation, the student must complete his/her PT in the following academic year.
